Audio Science

Science knows a lot about audio that some people seem to be at pains to disregard:

- interaction between speakers and rooms (by far the biggest culprit): directionality, Allison effect, standing waves, room correction, human hearing windows, etc.
- flat frequency response in loudspeakers (subject to above), dispersion issues
- phase related errors and artifacts in loudspeakers
- amplifier/preamp/analog stage design for low distortion and competent power delivery
- elimination of jitter in digital equipment
- dynamic range issues, including magnitude of the problem, diminishing returns, recording venue issues, etc.
- competent cable design: capacitance, resitance and inductance

Its amazing how many manufacturers disregard accepted science on all of the above, and how many critics and audiophiles follow them.
