Re: You must not have heard of

Yeah, I have heard of the pepsi challenge. I have actually conducted a number of blind taste tests myself back when I owned a chocolate shop. Indeed I discovered that the same rules do apply. People don't eat their chocolate blind in real life. Scientists don't eat their meals blind either. The point is even scientists live with the uncertainty of human perception in their day to day lives without demanding scientific varification of those perceptions. Imagine for a moment their is some militant objectivist challenging you every time you say you had a good meal and demanding you varify that with DBTs. What's the point? The next meal we all have will be sighted and our experience will be just as subject to biases as ever before any DBTs. The same goes for anything we experience in audio. Should we enjoy our meals less since we don't know for sure what influence our biases had on our enjoyment? Life is too short and excellent aesthetic experiences are too precious. I'd rather enjoy them than worry about whether or not biases had any affect on them. Of course they did. That's life. I choose to keep living it.
