Imagination.

To quote from Jim Austin's reply to me under the heading "It's not science" 24th May

"I think you refuse to acknowledge the possibility that your impressions could be imaginary"

As I have said before, asking oneself the question, "Have I imagined it ?" is the FIRST thing an intelligent person asks themselves, when hearing changes in the sound they did not expect to hear ! And the second thing, and the third thing. Then, when they have convinced themselves that they didn't imagine it, then the next question they ask themselves is "Was it suggested to me. Was I expecting it to happen ?" And so on. So, how anyone can accuse me of 'refusing' to acknowledge

Again, as I have said before "Why do people view audio completely differently than how they live Real life ?"
To give one simplistic example.
If one of my children complains of a pain in their stomach, the FIRST thing I think is "Could it be something they have eaten ?" If they still have the pain on the second day, I still think the same thing "Could it be something they have eaten ?" If they still have the same pain on the third day, I think the same thing again. When it gets to the fourth day and they still have the pain, I change to thinking "Is it a tummy bug ?" And think that on the fifth day, and on the sixth day. By the end of the week, if they still have the pain, then I decide it is time to see a doctor. I describe to the doctor all that has happened over the past seven days and, if the Doctor asks me the simplistic question "Have you considered whether it is something they have eaten ?" after I have given him such a detailed description - I will throttle the doctor !!

So, Jim, the answer to your presumption is Yes, of course we have been through the entire gambit of 'could it be suggestion', or the 'placebo effect', 'imagination', or 'mood changes', or 'effective marketing'.
And, Jim, if you are going to write an article simplistically suggesting that so many inexplicable things which have been reported MUST BE because of 'suggestion', the 'placebo effect', 'mood changes', imagination', 'effective marketing', the you should be able to put forward some sort of explanation as to HOW all these effects can 'change the sound'. You see, we are not talking here about people just 'feeling' happier, merely feeling 'more relaxed', we are talking about the actual 'sound' changing !!! And, if you want to suggest that in an (audio related) article, then you must have some idea HOW the sound can have been changed !
The descriptions people give, for example, are that they 'hear' the sound stage to be wider, higher, with more depth, better separation of instruments, much more natural, instruments playing in the background that they had not been aware of before and so on.
Explain all that under the headings 'suggestion', the 'placebo effect', 'imagination', 'mood changes', 'effective marketing' !!

May Belt.
