No, it's the other way around

"if you are going to write an article simplistically suggesting that so many inexplicable things which have been reported MUST BE because of 'suggestion', the 'placebo effect', 'mood changes', imagination', 'effective marketing', the you should be able to put forward some sort of explanation as to HOW all these effects can 'change the sound'."

I think its more logical that the one who makes these outlandish claims should produce objective evidence to support this. Otherwise they are selling an unsubstantiated product to consumers who are shelling out money in good faith with no rational support. At the very least these manufacturers should print a disclaimer saying that there is no scientific evidence that the product works as advertised.

I have listened blind to different transports with a good DAC and though they sound marginally different there is no objective way to tell which is better. The same is true of competently designed DACs. Yet there is a 4x price difference between these units. Clearly something is wrong, some people are taking advantage of the naivete and good faith of consumers who have been indoctrinated to believe that you decide by "listening". As if acoustics, our ears, and our memory were some sort of scientific instrument. Philosophers gave up on this idea centuries ago but it is still alive and kicking in audio.
