Science, cables and the body of knowledge

My point at the end of the day is that there are so many things that science has taught us about audio that we pay little attention to, that it is rather pointless to dabble so much with things whose effect is unclear and in most cases minuscule by comparison. We need to listen with a critical, skeptical attitude, because reasonable experience (aka. in a way as science) has taught us that ears can mislead even those with the best intentions. Things like the "skin effect" in cable are of dubious audibility, at least in terms of leading to clear improvements. The last thing in my mind is to say we should not add to "the body of knowledge", quite the contrary, I am saying we should not add to the body of confusion, which is pretty substantial these days.

For those who have really accurate systems built around speakers that have a controlled interaction with the rooms they are in, my advice is to listen to the music and let science, not hobbyists, make its careful progress with regards to cables, maple blocks and magic stones, until some rational evidence is provided.
