Cable claims

As far as claiming to hear differences, the only logical response on the part of the investigator is to accept the claim. Either a difference was heard or it was not. If not, than the subject lied about his experience and the investigator has no way of testing for veracity in this case. Therefore he can only accept the report of the subject as true. Now this is as far as the investigator can go, he can never prove what the source of the perception was. At best he may come up with correlations to some observable parameter. But this is not causation and therefore not proof. Same goes for aliens, ghosts etc. in as much as they remain only experiences related through language.

If we look at this from the point of deliberate deception then it is only relevant to the case of the cable maker/seller. This would mean that the maker is convinced that cables DO NOT do what he claims and he is fraudulently representing his product on the market. Here he is on considerably weaker footing than our paranormal charlatan. He can't rely on trick photography, special effects or slight of hand....he is just handing out a product. On the whole this would not make cable sales the surest gig for our con man. The actual cable market argues against this business model as there are several highly successful long standing makers and many many smaller cap firms making a go of it. Not what one would expect in a market based on naked fraud.

Rather than deliberate deception, what we see most of is speculation given as fact. Our cables sound good becausre of xxx construction, etc. The given is that the cables sound good. The maker produces cables because he has experienced the sound for himself. The speculation is in the stated cause of the good soung which, as I already pointed out, is not provable. To me this is no more unethical marketing than using engineering specifications to sell cables. Personally I ignore all of it.
