Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Be nice to my friend here, please.

Hi.

Sonics is personal, so are the choice of audio gears, which include
wires & cables.

Also level of satisfaction varies with personal taste & of course many other factors, like willingness to spend. Likewise, some fond of fine dines but many find burgers a treat.

But one thing I don't agree with Russ is I, just like many golden ears, do hear sonic difference among very fine cables. This is particulary true when you are used to listen to certain cables you love & you just can't mistake it for something else.

As I posted yesterday, how can one ever mistake his wife's voice for someone else? This memory is well embedded in the brain's sonic data base for good.

Like a couple years back, I had a in-depth sonic A/B (sorry, a sighted test only) btwn a pair of USD4,000 ICs (gold on AG), built thick like a snake, with my humble skinny 4N pure AG homebrew.

Surely we saw the difference. Also, we heard the difference right the
way: the exotic cables sounded smooth, neutral, yet a bit dull & slightly lack of vitality, like a shady summer afternoon. Mine sounded dynamic, lifelike, like a clear sunhine morning. Preference is personal, but for sure we heard the difference.

You may argue my piece of crap could be just as good as a RadioShack cheapie. But sonically, it blows away many expensive brandnames in the past on A/B test.
