So you NEVER answered the phone and mistaken the caller for someone else?

For most of humans - that’s a relatively common mistake. Your point is actually an excellent argument showing the fallibility of human hearing perception.

One of the projects I worked on was automatic machine voice verification and surprisingly field data shows humans are very error prone and unreliable (expectations influence our hearing perception a lot in deciding who we’re talking to). Since humans are so unreliable, it was easy to have the machine outperform.
