Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

You clearly have more experience than I do

I don't claim to be hip to cables. My original post was suggesting that guy wire interconnect might not sound too good:)

But hey, I will go out on a limb and state what I think I hear using different wire in amp construction. Lets start with the genaric PVC insulated copper. I find it to have a nice well rounded sound with a bloated/slow bass and confused/muddied highs. Typical silver plated copper in teflon has wonderful detail that tends towards silbilance and a tight but slightly weak bass and a somewhat recessed midrange. Unplated copper with foamed teflon is very nice overall...I like it...maybe a tad creamy on the top end...much of the same detail as teflon but less nervous/fatigue. I don't have much experience with silver but I wonder if it might sound too good...in the way the an oil coupling cap can...as in improving (adding to) the signal.

Not all wires can handle the voltages that I need. What I have worked more towards is developing circuits that take the power supply out of the signal path. If find changes in circuit design to make cables less important. This might allow me to use wire which isn't sonically to my liking because my circuit has isolated or rejected it's sonic contribution.
