Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

I agree & disagree. (long)

Hi.

Agree:

(1) The statement of the original poster: "It is virtually IMPOSSOBLE to hear the same thing twice." - I consider this is an own personal & subjective opinion. I consider it is invalid without valid substantiation from the poster.

(2) "Many valid observations are made without precise understanding of the theory behind such behaviour, the theory can come later."

This is exactly what science is all about:
Science is defined as: systematic knowledge, investigation or study
of observed material facts.

(3) "It all boils down to the deep lack of understanding of hearing process by most of the DBT community."

The DBT community assumes our brain will act sort of like a computer, capable of perceive sonic differenc on systematic sampling. But unfortunately our brain, being a human organ, often fails to percieve difference on monotonous continuous external stimulations.

Disagree:

"The process of the listening evaluation is a process of statistical
analysis"..."It is a valid sicnetific method".

For the sole purpose of conducting a statistcal analysis, it is valid.

But when the brain is the key test subject, it would be invalid due to the brain tends to fail to sense under monontonous continuous external stimulations.

So IMO, the protocol endorsed by the DBTs should be revised to enable the brain to function effectively to produce valid sonic
obserations.
