Re: Please explain "listener's fatigue"

You mean you can play Mahler's large scal orchesta at the identical SPL of the live performance on our tube-amp system? If it is true, your system will be magnificent.

And yours can? If so, it's the only audio system on earth (or you've never heard the BSO performing say Mahler's 7th or 8th live then). Time to get out and hear what real music sounds like then. When was the last time you've heard a Mahler symphony live>?

BTW, if you don't think your speakers don't compress the music and dynamics, then you need to get out and listen to more speakers.

Also, tube amplifiers are far more dynamic and as a result sound twice as loud almost any ss amp, esp. yours. If you had tubes, you wouldn't need a 600 watt ss amp. Admit the truth for once. You haven't heard a tube amp (or your basing your argument on listening to one tube amp). Inquiring minds want to know what tube amplifiers you've actually heard in your system.

I'll put a cj Premier 8 or Audio Research Ref 600 tube amplifier (I'm sure you've heard them right?)up against your beloved ss amp any day of the week. Maybe you should learn something about SPL, distortion and that there's a difference between quality and quantity. Sounds to me the real answer to your quest is a PA, not a high-end audio system.

the Mercury digital reissues - especially the latter ones! The Starker CD pales next to the LP.

IMHO, these mercury CDs which are printed in u.s have inverted absolute polarity. Get German prints. you will find surprising difference between u.s and German prints.>>

First stop selectively clipping my quotes and show the whole thing.

Next, about absolute polarity. Tell me something I don't know. Maybe you just discovered absolute polarity but I've been aware of this for over 20 years from working in the studio. Oh and in the US: our DACs have switches for inverting absolute phase and every reviewer I know routinely checks each and every CD when they play a disc.

In fact, one of my Senior Editors wrote a piece which lists the absolute polarity for every CD label and it will be republished in the Summer issue of Ultimate Audio.

Now stop being a troll, stay on the topic and answer a question for ONCE! Here's the question repeated again. DID YOU OR DIDN'T YOU USE AN ORIGINAL MERCURY LP FOR THE STARKER COMPARISONS? Or did you use some later reissue and which one. Tell me what the label number was and what were the numbers in the deadwax. You can spout off as much as you want about absolute polarity but the biggest factor is the pressing and the quality of the disc your using for comparision. End of story.

Anxiously awaiting your reply.
