It is very intriguing to know how deeply bias in favor of tube amp is rooted in u.s high-end audio.Maybe because tubes sound like real music.
I am not saying B&W DM2A is the representative of speaker suited to a small powered tube amp, and do not think it is paticularly suited to ongaku, however the DM2 quite resemble to the sound of AN-J Kondo-san's place in Tokyo.Well I don't know anyone who uses a B/W DM2 on any type of amp, be it tube, SE or ss.
If you do not get fatigued by tube ampplification, you are OK.Well thank you.I am very curious to konw what kind of music do you like. Are you just litenning to so-called audiophile recordings? Do you know these classical musicians I like such as Herbert Kegel, Michele Auclair,Anatol Ugolski,Sigiswald Kuiken, Bruno Canino? Or, you care just hear only easy-listenning classical pieces such that Harry Pearson has listed on his WEB? Or, you hear only heavily compressed roc/pops recordigs? You're not a troll but you are presumptuous enough to assume what I listen to? Care to drop a few more names? FYI, my LP collection is over 10,000 LPs and growing. Think that's a few more than currently reside on HPs list. I might also add that Sid Marks, one the foremost LP collectors and most knowledgable classical reviewers writes for my magazine.
Oh before I forget: I listen to and appreciate almost all types of music (apologies to opera and bluegrass - though I love choral), not some narrow window of classical music. Small scale classical, symphonic, early music are just some of the classical records that see play time in my system.
Also, it's curious that no one out liked the Mercury digital reissues - especially the latter ones! The Starker CD pales next to the LP. You're telling me/us that you've compared the original issue Mercury LP (not a Golden import, foreign pressing or some other later issue) to the CD and reached this conclusion. Awfully hard to believe. If you have, then somethings really wrong somewhere.
