Re: How Does One Prove You Can Hear Different Cables

> How Does One Prove You Can Hear Different Cables

You perform a valid experiment which demonstrates this. The rules (the scientific method) have been established for many hundreds of years and are at the heart of technological explosion that has occurred during this time. There is plenty about it on the internet and it is straightforward to understand how and why it works for those without a technical background.

The experiment you describe fails to conform to the scientific method for a number of reasons. Perhaps the two most important are that you did not define what form of perception you were testing (e.g. blind, sighted, quick switch, long pause, etc... which are all different) and you had no controls.

As encouragement, should you find you can distinguish between cables under scientifically valid conditions then there are several challenges you can win in various audio usenet groups. I should add that these require normal cables driving typical loads since it is easy to hear differences with atypical cables and atypical loads.

If you conform to the scientific method then pretty much the whole world will accept what you have done as valid because they can (and will!) repeat your experiment to check and investigate further. This is how sciences works. Of course, if they then find the results were made up one gets the situation we recently had in South Korea albeit on a smaller scale.
