Re: How Does One Prove You Can Hear Different Cables

Howdy

As you note, many people don't accept the results of a test (of any sort) if it doesn't match their world view. At times it's their loss, but we all have our limits of credulity and there are somethings that I won't accept even when I hear a difference.

I gave up on blind and double blind tests a long time ago for my personal use, they just got the same answers that I got with sighted tests but took a lot longer. That isn't to say that I don't value asking friends and family for their impressions, often they can articulate a difference better than I can. Also almost everyone agrees on which is better or worse in the tests we've done (with the notable exception of a friend who hates vinyl and loves CD: often he likes different things than the rest of us.) I don't see a reason to change if the difference isn't immediately obvious (unless, I can turn a profit by selling the old and buying the new.)

It is fun to note when people's bodies jerk with a harsh cable is selected or when their feet start tapping when things are all working together.
