You didn't read that Infinity review very carefully

This Infinity Intermezzo 4.1 review was not one of Aczel's;Don Keele did the reviewing at his own place;it was not tested in Aczel's room. It doesn't say, but I'm betting that Keele wasn't using a Pioneer receiver.

In fact, neither does Aczel. He's currently using an ATI multichannel because it's recommended for his Orion speakers. I suspect that Aczel's reference in 2002 was the Waveform Mach 17. He has since gone back to his old flame, dipole speakers.

You don't seem to know his history. He started out as a True Believer. He wouldn't listen to anything but tubes (well, maybe Electrocompaniet and ML!)and he loved expensive electrostatics like Beveridge. He argued adamantly with Holman that the Apt preamp needed a week to warm up before it sounded good.He was a champion of OTL amps, and was well acquainted with Julius Futterman. He considered himself a serious rival to HP as the greatest audio guru. In short, he was one of You.His eyes were opened by DBT's in the 80's, and he fell away from the audiophile religion to become an atheist.

I appreciate his diligence in measuring these things because we mostly get Subjectivist hype and manufacturer's specs from other publications, and I think he should stick to measuring. bjh bitches about Aczel not listening to the equipment, but just think:do you really want to make a purchase decision based on listening impressions from an eighty-year-old?

By the way, don't tell ka7niq his 801's aren't so hot unless you want a flame war.
