"Seems to me if Azcel is a deaf idiot as most audiophiles believe, than how could Siegfried have respect for him?"

Siegfied believes that Aczel has his "priorities" correct: speakers first, acoustics next, and then who knows what else is next. I also know that Siegfried did not complete the design of his own Audio Artistry speaker systems. He had other designers with "Golden Ears" finish the job because he felt they could hear things that he couldn't. There were numerous final tweaks to the cabinets, crossovers, etc. that Siegfried had no hand in. He could not hear the problems for himself. But he was thankful that they were indeed improved upon to the point where the nitpickers of the world would be happier with them.

Siegfried's priorities are close to my own, but I feel I have been able to detect some things he cannot. Siegfried, for instance, says he cannot hear the differences in amplifiers and does not understand any desire for a little "tube warmth" in the sound. He is very theoretical in his approach, very scientific, but also admittedly NOT very astute to the minor details. Audiophiles can get overly enamored with those minor details. Siegfried is not completely against that, he's just not hearing much from it and not caring about it. He goes for the big fish to fry.

I admittedly like to dabble in the major and minor areas. Sometimes the minor things can make the overall presentation just get that "magical touch". But that's just me.

Since Siegfried does what Aczel appreciates, I think Aczel gives him all the extra praise. And Siegfried likes that.
