A not-so-minor point is that in the world of science, Pasteur (or any other researcher) testing his own theories is not accepted as definitive proof. It makes for nothing more than an interesting start.

The key is when =others= can repeat the experiment and consistently get the same results. It is the repeatability of results by others that gives weight and validity to any scientific theory.

Unfortunately, repeatability of results by others seems to be an area in which high end audio is often (but not always) on the shy side.
