RE: Limage: Oh my goodness.

I tried Limage in my last room, 13'x26' (yeah yeah, I was renting) with my 1.7s. Never felt like I got it quite right, particularly with the bass but definitely liked a lot of what I heard.

Moved last November, room is now 13'x13.8' (yeah yeah, still renting). For months I worked on the standard setup, including 6' tube traps all around the room, with varying degrees of success. Often happy but when I saw this thread I realized there was no magic in the sound. Figured I should give Limage a shot, despite the room shape.

Took all of the tubes out, moved the couch way back with the center of my head being about 18" from the wall and worked on the speakers for about a week. Settled on 58" into the room, 10.5" from the sidewalls. Enjoyable and open!! The traps were sucking out way too much life in the room.

It didn't take long before I concluded that it was much too lively though and I slowly incorporated some traps back into the setup. Started with a 16" diameter trap, center front wall and two 9" traps roughly in the quarter points of the front wall. I then played with the placement of the smaller traps until the image became more focused. Better but not enough. Added two more 9" traps to the quarter points of the sidewalls, behind the speakers and again played with the placement for a few days.

For whatever reason I put the traps with the absorptive sides facing the speakers. I had been thinking about rotating them but was hesitant as I liked what I was hearing. Came back to the thread today and the posts convinced me to rotate them as well as place two 16" traps in the corners behind the speakers.

The sound I'm getting now is the best I've had in the five years I've owned the speakers. Solid image but still open and spacious with defined and even bass. More lively than before I started this adventure but controlled.

Thanks for the thread :)
