Generally I agree with you. If children are exposed to high-quality music reproduction from an early age, it’s possible—maybe even likely—that they will seek out that level of reproduction in adulthood. That seems to be the case with more than a few on this forum. I am, however, the exception. I was not exposed to high-quality audio during my childhood—neither of my parents cared about it, nor did they even listen to much music—but I started learning about it in my late teens and early twenties by wandering into NYC emporiums like Sound by Singer. When I heard how much better my music sounded on those systems, I was hooked. So that’s my story, but I do agree with you in principle: childhood exposure will likely lead to adult pursuit.
