RE: Is this feasible? Rectifying 6.3v for heaters

Hi Audio Pete,

Linear Technology offers a regulator with even less drop (350 mv), The LT3080.
It is only good for 1.1 A but any number can be paralleled with relative ease.

There is one more caveat. To get the 350 mv minimum offset there is a "control" pin which must be biased a few hundred mv above the input pin. Kind of a PITA but I came up with a trick for the heater supply in my HK Citation 4. If you are interested I'll scan the schemo and send it to you or post it.
