The Solen is decent, not as good as the RTI caps they started using recently. But I think you are right and the mid cap and bass cap should give you more bang for the err.. pound. But I would look to do something with the bass cap. As a temporary measure I would look to bypass it with a 1/10th value high quality cap (M cap Supreme perhaps) The alteration in the crossover values would be minimal but it should help a little with clarity in the lower mids.

The Ansar, by reputation should do better than the Solen.

As to biamping, I took a look at the schematic and I think you are correct -
disconnect the bass panel feeds from the solder pads,
disconnect the driver leads from the cap and
connect new wire to the new terminals and to the leads to the drivers.
Remember to keep track of the wire's polarity.

The biamp + upgrade of the mid - treble crossover parts is actually an interesting proposition. You get your Behringer and hook it up to the bass amp, and hook up the mid/tweeter amp to the upgraded passive crossover. Cool.

I guess a used Behringer and new bass crossover components are at about the same price point.
