Re: Agree completely.

As an ex B&W owner of a model I still like and wish they had kept I can agree with what you say.

Magazines are in the business of selling magazines -- They want to keep the seduction of tht better unit going to generate upgraditus as much as possible. Upgrading to be in fashion or upgrading to get better are not the same breed. Most of the big manufacturers keep the magazines in business and so there is a conflict of interest inherent in the process of accepting money for adverts and then reviewing the products that are being advertised.

Audiophiles are I suppose mad at Bose because when the masses think of the best speaker they think Bose -- but that is just advertising. I find it ironical that they would save the poor sheep who bought Boe by recommending an even worse value for the money speaker in SOME Harman or B&W's.

Bose's price have actually come down.

My dealer who has been in this business for over 30 years and attended most of the shows and who has sold pretty much every brand on these boards told me that the vast majority of shoppers who walk through the doors know what they want before they even listen -- most do not seiously listen. They buy what the magazine recommended. He sells stuff that he personally thinks is caca but it's a busness. Here is a guy who has heard it all - works with it all all day -- more than ANY reviewer -- few ask for his advice but they will trust the reviewer who takes free product and accepts money to keep their magazine in business? Umm yeah?
