Come on

Stop it already. Why can't you just admit that you said something dumb & move on?

In the 1970s Jethro Tull had 12 certified gold records, and 1 platinum, which was a greatest hits. That's a minimum of 7 million records sold. In the 1970s Bad Company had 3 records certified gold, 2 platinum. That's a minimum of 3 1/2 million records sold, but a maximum of less than 7 million, and it would stand to reason that they were well beneath the threshold of even coming close to those numbers, unless you're so desperate to claim this point that you're willing to exclude inconvenient details like certification dates. Those figures are on the RIAA website, and if you really need it, I'll supply you a link if you need to see that for yrself.

In the 1970s, Jethro Tull became one of the very few bands to headline a venue as large as Shea Stadium. If you know of many venues of this size that Bad Company headlined in the 1970s, please list them. 'Sold out concert tours' is a meaningless phrase unless you lay out numbers. Go ahead, and if they support yr contention I'll gladly admit you were correct on that score, but I distinctly remember that the weirdo with the flute had a good head start on the Rod Stewart wannabe & headlining baseball stadiums tops the touring legacies of most rock acts.

This is an unbelievably silly argument. However, yr statement & yr willingness to defend it deserve to be called on. Give it up, will you?
