RE: Yes, we did... after about 15 years.

Our pool was a bit older, about 80 years old. Rumor has that it started as a reservoir for the ranch for the avocados and oranges. A friend of my wife claims that she learned to swim in the pool in the 40s.



The walls had no rebar and only had a 2-3" skim coat or mortar. It's amazing that it hadn't fall apart on its own, but the cement they used back then was hard, much harder than typical mortar.

You can see that they formed the steps with rocks.



Everything was caged with rebar and then pumped shotcrete. After it set, it was finished the next day with a fine pebble finish.



I think that the tile is original and was cleaned up and re-grouted some pieces and replaced a few bricks on the coping.



The remodel is going on 10 years old and is still like new.
