RE: It was on the NBC News tonight...............

I have no issue with solar at all. I love it. We haven't paid any electric bills since installing solar in 2012 and we added more in 2014 for the guest house. With net metering, roof top solar has been a huge success in California.

>>>Solar power is real, and the bugs will be worked out. It's not to be dismissed because a few of the problems have not been worked out yet.

My issue is that the government does know what it needs to do, but as usual, the utilities don't like solar because they don't get money for it. That's why they did away with net-metering and it's killed the roof-top solar business. Solar companies are laying off in masses and new installations are way, way off.

The utilities haven't invested enough in batteries which according to some pundits require over a trillion dollars worth of batteries to support the grid. In the meantime, some of our power plants are closing down creating shortages when the sun isn't shining.

Last summer, when we needed AC as the sun was going down, the utilities and government asked everyone to not charge their EVs, so they could run they AC.

Sorry if I seem pessimistic, but I don't have a lot of confidence in our state government. Take our roads. California's highways rank 43rd in the nation in overall cost-effectiveness and condition while California has the highest gas tax in the country. Where does the money go?
