Milling/Drilling G10 Fiberglass

Several people here on the forum and also at work warned me recently about the difficulties in milling G10 sheet. I'm pigheaded though, and a week of searching hadn't found any commercial RCA jacks or insulators that seemed optimum for my ongoing preamp project. I have now produced a number of professional quality pieces on my mill with no difficulty. As I discovered, the trick is to cut it while applying a little oil from an oil can. I always use oil when cutting aluminum, so it was a natural thing to try. If the surface of the G10 is kept wet while it's being cut, there's no dust. The process creates a slurry the consistency of mud that runs off or clumps up around the cut. It can be easily cleaned up with a vacuum when the work is finished. Just wanted to mention this for the benefit of anyone else who needs to mill or drill more than one or two holes in this material. Another problem solved!
