I remember sitting next to a NASA accountant on a flight once

We chatted about many things, including LASIK surgery (that helped me to decide to do it myself) and budget rounding. NASA rounds everything to the nearest million dollars.

...or in my case, build a high voltage mic pre-amp next to a 300W power amplifier and 100Amp pulse width furnace controller (flown on STS-7 and STS-51a).

Just for grins, what was the budget for those goodies? Also, they use 120 VAC on the shuttle?
