I overwhelmingly agree with one of your points:Magnetic field is something most designers try to reduce because of it's effects not only on power supplies as I noted, but signal circuitry as well.
The cords I use employ multiple strategies for achieving reduced levels of radiated and conducted EMI / RFI. I think you'll find the concept of introducing said to be quite in the minority, if not unique.
