Ah, a PS..

When I say alter the line cord inductance, there are two parts..

The first part is the effective series inductance caused by the permeability of the rod immersed in the dipole field of the hot/neutral set. That component of inductive reactance is what would affect the load draw. And, for this geometry, that reactance is far too small to have that effect.

The second inductive component is the external inductance of the cord. And, this external inductance is summed with the loop inductance formed by the grounds and IC's. THAT can be altered quite significantly by this widgit..it alters the haversine coupling of the loop.

That is where to look, IMHO..
