Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Re: Since DBTs are so great, why then do precious few audio manufacturers ever mention them?

Hi

I am a manufacturer (I design the stuff anyway), our products are loudspeakers in commercial sound not home hifi however, I can offer a few thoughts.
It is ONLY when a mfr thinks they will win that such events take place.
Mfr’s are in business to sell product, marketing teaches (for example in the 22 immutable laws of marketing) that it does not matter how good the product actually is, it is the perception that counts.
AS the DBT of amplifiers and speaker cables normally don’t show much or any distinguishable difference, popularizing such tests is NOT something an amplifier or cable company is likely to do.
Come to think of it, I would bet that many folks could even be down right hostile to the idea if their income was jeopardized by such findings.
