I also meant to say the bass varies

when you change the angle of the cabinet, when you toe in the cabinets the bass coming out the back port reflects off the corner differently, yielding more bass when it is pointed directly at the corner and less when the ports are pointed at the rear wall.

At least that is my take on it.
