Purifi supplies a mono amp module complete without input buffer, the 1ET400A, as well as the Eval 1, a stereo amp with input buffers, and a mono amp module, the Eval 2, with input buffer.
The included Purifi buffer has bested most of the 3rd party input buffer boards in performance. Several of the companies, like VTV, which sell the Purifi based amps, have them priced with the stock buffers for less than one can buy the parts to make their own amp. They make their money on their in-house buffer boards so don't expect any of them to have an unbiased opinion about the Purifi buffers. Some, like Neurochrome, which makes aftermarket buffers for Hypex and Purifi, adds features like switchable gain and other add ons that add value. If you ask the owner of Neurochrome, he will quite honestly tell you that performance wise, the stock buffers are flawless. His are also very well designed with crazy good performance.
Most of the 3rd party buffers tested have been shown to degrade the stock Purifi amp performance. But if you are of that persuasion which prefers adding extra flavor to the signal, there are several options available.
