RE: Class D recommendations

There are a number of ridiculously powerful Class D amps around, but who needs this power unless perhaps using ridiculously insensitive speakers?

I've had a number of Class D amps over decades (from Tripath days) but all have been 200 watts or less - plenty for my horn speakers and most others for that matter. By far the best has been the Purifi Eigentakt design chosen my NAD and used in the M33 that I chose after auditioning at home a dozen amps of all ss types.

Getting a basic Purifi Evaluation module and DIY'ing an amp, or buying ready made amps from garage assemblers using the Eval board will not take full advantage of the technology. NAD and a couple of other big brands (T&A) develop the technology with Purifi and build under license using better parts than the Eval board and of course use the best power supplies, etc to justify the higher price of those Purifi-based amps sold on Ebay, etc. NAD's lesser C Series amps that also use Purifi at lower cost do a pretty good job but the innards are not up to the quality of their Master Series amps.
