No, it's not pseudoscience...it's just not ultra precise

So there is room for people to have different responses. It might very well predict what you would find preferrable in a listening test between two amps that have very different predictions from a good model. Two amps that give a similar score from a model might be tough to predict.

As a designer tool, why wouldn't you want to design something in a way that more people prefer the sound?
