Oh MeGodz...IT'S ALIVE!!

AH,
lo and behold, my goth wild child dream/nightmare. yes, yes, a coat of paint in a decent color would do it (and my eyesight) a whole lot of good. And i still have to make a box for the crossovers, you can see them crossover parts spill out like a belly sliced open in front.

But considering the work i have put in, in the past few days, i am just going to take a breather and listen, listen, listen, with a blind fold on if i have to.

OH but my goodness does she sound gooood. I never knew. I just never knew. it is as night and day, the before and after is. I have such bass, i can make out bass notes on bass guitar, i have sound stage and depth!! I can make out the bass guitar is at a different depth to the kick drum!! And the impact, my word, i have impact, i have attack, i have decay.

I never knew the meaning of these words as applied to what you are meant to hear, but with the new frames, as shitty as they look, i immediately could tell i was hearing these things. The music is utterly utterly unbelievable. So 'foot-tappingly' wonderful. That's my ultimate gauge... it if makes my foot tap and my heart soar, it's a keeper. And this does both, in spades.

For everyone who has shared, please accept my deepest gratitude. I am humbled, and i would not have been able to start without your postings, of pictures, of experience, of a ''go on, take a chance, it will work out.'' encouragement. THANK YOU.

For those who still teeter on the fence of doing and not doing, look, the difference is phenomenal. Tools you say? I did it with a hammer, a Phillips head screwdriver, knife, saw, bolts, soldering iron and solder, wood that already had holes in them (think IKEA!), and lots and lots of good quality American wood glue. Oh, and a ruler. There's 60 nuts and bolts keeping the two halves of the sandwich, with the speaker 'meat' in between per speaker. Should be enough, no?

My work bench? Take a good look at the pictures above, that's the dining table it's laying on, no miters or or jigs and things....so it can be done very very cheaply, on a wing and a prayer.

In time, in time, i can find pretty wood, and slowly make a frame that friends and family can gather around, touch gingerly, and admire the looks of, patting me on my shoulder, saying nice things about me and my craft, wondering if i may err, build something similar for their own, so they may also gaze into the wonderful, wonderful work i do. For now it sits in the small music room at the back(actually in my 'umble 'ome there is no other place for it yet..) away from little children and small pets for fear they run screaming out of the house, crying for mummy. Oh dear God this thing looks hideous, but sounds like nothing i have EVER had in my own home.

God bless all of you, for making me a happy, happy man.

Warmfires.
