Alot of us who've done wood frames have an "oops" or two in there, we just won't mention it =^). The neat thing about making frames out of individual pieces is that if you screw a piece up, you just re-make that piece.
Now as far as the precision of the frame, don't sweat it. You'd really have to fork-it-up to make a wood frame perform worse than a MDF frame.
