another solution

In addition to all these great helps, I'd like to add something nobody has yet mentioned.

I'm not wealthy. I simply can't afford the tools and space to do a proper reframe. So, to that end, I enrolled in the local JC. I don't care if it takes me a year or so to construct all-wood frames. I won't mess with the crossover at first, but the stock Maggie unit will go into boxes constructed while I learn the rest of the skills to complete this project.

The JC has a great program and plenty of help from knowledgable people. Just up the road, in San Marcos, are not 1 but 2 lumberyards, one of which has Sapele in 4/4 and 5/4 in decent lengths.

I intend to do it right and will 'publish' when I get a result. My plan includes features not seen on other modifications. 'Nuff said, for now.
