RE: And yet

Wonderful! I am certainly going to look that title up.

As I go into my "older guy years", and starting to think about projects, I want to do some deeper dives into measurement techniques, and some acoustic engineering and recording theory. Microphone placement (and types) on sound-stages is where the rubber hits the road in this hobby I think. It's the window through which all of our listening is done, after all.

In the meantime... I have to go through my (somewhat limited) orchestral collection and see where I can identify the venue and possibly even recording methods. I think I can tell, just in hindsight, which recordings likely have supplemental section or soloist mics. The way these specific instruments "arrive" in the sound-stage is simply... odd. Too big, too high, too "over there". And now, seating arrangements.

No shortage of OCD fuel here...
