I recall when he tested a 5.1 channel ATC system in 2000 and declared it the best he ever heard. I spoke with him to confirm and he was adamant. I asked what he was going to do when he had to return it and he jokingly said he'd kill himself. I walked in the ATC room at Vegas in 2001 and told the exhibitor the story and he pointed to the 5.1 system in the room and he said it was the one Gordon tested.

It should be added that Gordon's interest in multi channel was not to be more impressive but to come closer to live concert sound from great recordings.
