Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Not really

Those multi track machines you brought up were created since the musicians back in the 60s sucked. Those fab 50s recordings were possible since rooms full of musicians were musicians. One only needs to see the movie about Muscle Shoals to appreciate that. My reality is that I am not sophisticated or cool enough to appreciate classical music. And quite frankly, choral is the geekiest of all. At a show years ago a guy sat down and put on a choral piece. The room emptied out in less than a minute.

Kathie and I have been together for 25 years now. 3 years ago we figured that we had been out to over 1800 gigs. That would be mainly jazz, some rock and piano with dinner. Our current favorite place is a dinner theater that they usually play jazz, some blues. Dare I say likely cheap mics, a mixing board complete with dreaded op amps, powering, dig this, JBLs, ypur favorite. We don't harp over the sound, we enjoy the performances. I think audiophiles are the ones missing the point, as it is about the music.
