It's amazing how these threads evolve/devolve.

My point was that when listening to these very expensive speakers in a dedicated listening room with very expensive components and cabling, that the bass section of a symphonic recording (Ma Vlast/The Moldau) was much more emphasized than I've ever heard in a live setting. It was impressive but not realistic, IMO. I've requested known recordings here in Houston on Magico speakers that didn't sound anything like what I've heard while sitting in the seventh row of an HSO performance.

Even the jazz recording with the singer and combo made the bass hit harder/stronger than I've ever heard in a club setting.

I assume the speaker designers know this will sell and emphasize the woofers to be dominate.
