Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Strongly disagree.

A speaker with a non-flat, bumpy frequency rersponse generally will reproduce classical instruments very poorly. The character of an instrument is in its overtones or harmonics, and if various or harmonics fall in valleys or peaks, the instrument can sound peculiar. A smooth frequency response is essential for getting it right. Now a couple of dB tilt from one end to the other or rise in the middle isn't going to be a major problem, but a jagged frequency response is terrible in my listening experience. Incidentally, the K-Horns are among the least convincing speakers I have heard when its comes to accurately reproducing the sound of a classical instrument.
