I do not know the name of the Porc Tree drummer off-hand, but I think he's quite higher than "mid level".... Same goes for Syntek's original drummer, Michel Rojkind. And because I think this is a major element in muaic I like, I'm drawn to bands with this musical element.

Interesting you mention Porcupine Tree and Syntek. You should listen to Porc Tree's "Shallow" (Deadwing) and Syntek's "Volando Bajo" (Lugar Secreto). For bands from two totally different parts of the world, I think the polyrhythmic structures between these two songs are disgustingly similar.

Syntek's recent drummer is Julio Moran. I think the best explanation here is to watch the video.... I was actually thrown for a loop before realizing how the "triplet" polyrhythm was integrated.
