JBen---Though "ignorance" tends to sound pejorative (or even just harsh), I use the term only in it's literal sense---the lack of knowledge. Ignorance is no crime, and nothing to be ashamed of---we are all ignorant in our own ways. But this poor soul Steve just won't let go of his, clinging to old beliefs regardless of new information presented to him. THAT'S the attitude part! The Dahlquist DQ-LP1 does not provide the low-pass filtering the Tympani-I requires, being 3rd-order LP, not 1st. But it's 1st-order high-pass does. It is therefore perfect for the Tympani-IV (not the IVa, however), which calls for that exact combination---1st-order HP, 3rd-order LP. The LP frequency is adjustable via a knob, the HP requiring the soldering-in of the appropriate value resistor, that value determined by the desired x/o frequency and the input impedance of the power amp. I no longer need my DQ-LP1 (in excellent condition, complete with factory carton and packing material, and manual) if anyone is interested---Eric.
