RE: Chokes for MMG

You probably already know that a choke is a type of inductor. It is the type used to block high frequencies, typically in the RF range.

In the context of this particular thread, for years it has been claimed that a certain choke value (or values) can serve to improve the sound of some systems based on planar speakers, like some Magneplanars. This, on the suspicion that these speakers may act like an antenna and inject undesirable influences into the system. That's plausible, I guess. (LOL, I vote for it being that them antennas track the moon craters, thus creating moonraker distorting.)

Whatever the reason is for it, the chokes do make the Maggies sound different; arguably better in many cases. I sustain that it is worth trying them on a system, for it is a cheap tweak that holds valuable potential. Yet, as with everything, we find things to argue about this subject....and many others :)
