RE: Chokes for MMG

Hey Steve! I've been away from the forum too much lately. I haven't been able to catch up on all the good things that are happening here yet. So, I am very happy to learn that your projects are panning out.

Earlier in this thread there are a couple of links to chokes that work. These are of the cylindrical shape with ferrite core type. I am intrigued by a set of cylindrical but air-cored chokes that were sent to me by a friend recently. His description of their effect sounds like what we would be looking for. I will test them in a few weeks.

About capacitors, I'll have to confess to being behind current developments, relative to the speakers that is. My Maggies have no caps; actually, no xover. For years, the passive line-level xover (PLLXO) in my system has been using surplus Russian Teflon caps that topped out above everything I have tried (and could afford :). The problem is that the values available in the market are limited. But it may be worth considering the ones available, usually for line-level applications.
