RE: Good/bad news :-))

Yikes.

You must have used a different name or I am getting older than I thought...though I do get a fair amount of e-mail traffic on the subject.

My apologies!

The great news is that you are happy, and truth be told I associate "crushing tedium" with listening to tweak after tweak. Like you I kind of throw everything at it and often get great results.

Infact, if I EVER get my system going I will have new stands with the speakers 8" higher, new positioning (chair on the opposite wall), a bed in the room, a new audio computer, new ac circuits (arc fault added for code), new ICs due to the new positioning.

And that is just on day one. So you see it will be near impossible to do anykind of A/B, and considering that I havent had my system up in months it wouldnt matter anyhow.

After that I will have to go active, update my audio player to the latest version (I am 2 behind), add another psu to the audio computer, make new speaker cables, and try out the new tweak that is in my head.

With the later changes I WILL be able to take a more "Jben" approach and test things one at a time. The new tweak if it works will absolutely be demonstrable and easily defeated or activated. I'll let you know even if it is a bust.
