What's the big deal about 45 deg dispersion? (Although I wonder what you mean by "45 deg"? Do you mean dispersion to 45 deg either side of the perpendicular ... or 22 1/2 deg either side, ie. 45 deg in total?)
Sure, you don't want a sweet spot so narrow that as soon as you move your head 1" to the side, you're out of it ... but to cover 2 people sitting on a couch, my estimate is that a total arc of 30 deg is ample. Of course, it depends how far away you sit from the speaker. :-))
