RE: Crossed Wires

Thanks DR. As usual i uploaded pictures ass-up first, so what was meant to be first is now last.

The first picture is just to illustrate how, just a tug or two on the clip(not the wire itself) can cause the white wire to go it's own seperate way. So the contact here must be really shitty, and a worthwhile mod is to just solder..

The second and third pictures are just to show that the orientation of the colors is a little different from the diagram you posted, the blue wire on my speaker does not go the the speaker termination side of things, but rather to the capacitor. This is what i see in both my speakers. (my speakers- brown, blue, white, black, as in the bottom most picture)

What i decided to try is to reverse the black and the white leads to the bass panels. And i did this on both the left and right speakers.

Ho boy, the change, to say the least, was not subtle. yesterday, before i did the above change, i was listening to Eva Cassidy's live at blues alley, thinking hmm, i may need a subwoofer... today i have so much bass!! And it is good, clean bass, and Eva has more 'presence' in my room. The music has snapped into place, and the depth is incredible. There seem to be no abnormal peaks in frequency that i can discern. i probably want to listen to some more music before i decide the issue, but i am finding it rather hard at this point to want to orientate the wires back to the way they were.

The sound has 'gelled' so well, that i truly feel that i am only now getting the 'Maggie Magic', that i first heard with my way old SMGa's.

Am i now listening to the tweeters and bass out of polarity with each other, or were they out of polarity to begin with, and are they now in the right polarity with each other?

Please note that i did not change the polarity of the tweeters, leaving them the way they were.

Any one with similar experience to share?

Many thanks!

Warmfires.
