RE: Crossed Wires

I don't know that reversing would work for 1.6s.

[Edit 08/14/10 regarding what follows below, which has not been altered. I found out I was calling things by the wrong name. Clarifications are now added later in this thread. See Subjects: "Let's make it simpler, then." and "I called them the wrong names..." Sorry for the confusion. JBen]

However, I suspect that what Dr said could be based on MMGs. The 2nd xover design (current) is "said" to have the polarity reversed.

If this is so, Dr may have found that the MMGs sound truer when the polarity is inverted to be the same. (Both drivers in the same polarity.) In every instance I have tried, that's the only way I can get to like them. Now, some people may not like the more forward presentation, but it is, to me, more accurate.

In fact, with the same polarity, one can get a very flat response above 300hz or so. Not, however, with the inverted polarity, which has a pronounced mid shallows. So, I actually wonder if "reversed" is how they come from factory. (Mine had a different xover, the original design.)

Now that remember, I reverted my bi-amp configuration to a normal xover during the tests of the Razoring tweaks; just to be able to tell if the tweaks behaved the same. I am sure that I have the frequency scans. I'll look them up and post them when I get home. It may give you an idea or two relative to the 1.6s.
